Drought in Somalia

Relief agencies working in Somalia announced on Wednesday that more than 450,000 people are facing a grave humanitarian catastrophe after the drought which resulted in a great shortage in water and food supplies.
News reports said that the department in charge of coordinating aids in Somalia which includes UN agencies and non governmental organizations as well as other donor sides urged providing urgent aids saying that the drought left thousands of families without food.
The chairman of the committee in charge of ensuring food and rural areas developments of the coordination department in Kenya, Nairobi said the committee wants to give aids to poor families immediately otherwise people will not be rescued.
The UN secretary general described Somalia, just earlier this week, as the "poorest part of the world." He said that the Somali citizen survives at less than half USD and that life expectancy rate decreased to 45 years.
