UN expresses appreciation of Mrs. Suzanne Mubarak's efforts

Faisal Abdul kader, the new UN resident representative of the UN population fund in Egypt, lauded the pioneering and distinguished role of Mrs. Suzanne Mubarak in the issues of population, development and childhood in Egypt.
He expressed the extreme appreciation of the United Nations of the support given by Mrs. Suzanne Mubarak to efforts exerted by international organizations such as UNICEF and the population that are all efforts for the improvement of the quality of life, particularly in the fields of the family, childhood and literacy.
Dr. Abdul Kader made the statements after meeting with Foreign Minister Ahmed Maher Tuesday to present his credentials as new resident representative of the UN population fund.
Dr. Abdul kader said he intended to intensify and strengthen cooperation between the UN population fund and the higher women's council in Egypt. He hoped that this cooperation would be developed and be a more active.
He revealed that the annual population report that would be released on November 7, which deals with population and the environment, would include positive indicators about population conditions in Egypt.
Preparations are being made for the population and development program in Egypt in the coming five years (2002 2006), in which the fund cooperates with Egypt.
The volume of this program will exceed 18 million US dollars (the same volume of the past five years).
On the other hand, Mrs. Mubarak opens today morning Suzanne Mubarak's center for Islamic civilization.
The center is established in AL khalifa area, Cairo. On his part, Cairo library director, Mohamed Hamdy, said that experts of the supreme council of antiquities established the center four years ago with a one-million-dollar grant from, Islamic agency for international cooperation.
He added the center would shed light on Arab and Islamic civilization and its superiority in different fields.
Also Mrs. Suzanne Mubarak opens on October 29 Huriya Culture Palace in Alexandria, the project restoring the palace costs 20 million pound.
Meanwhile, local development ministry has been conducting a survey on the figure of poor families supported by women in villages and towns to lay down projects to upgrade those families socially-economically, and culturally.
