Attacks against embassies in Beirut foiled

News reports quoted a high ranking Jordanian official as saying that the Jordanian security forces in collaboration with the Lebanese security forces have foiled attacks targeting several Arab and foreign embassies in Beirut including the Jordanian embassy as well as the American and British embassies, noting that " Osbat al-Ansar" group, which is existed in Lebanon tries to carry out these aggressions.

In a statement the officials said that the Jordanian security departments in collaboration with Lebanese security departments succeeded several days ago in foiling these attempts which had been planned by the extremist Osbat al-Ansar whose main cadres and leadership are positioned in Ein al-Helweh camp for the Palestinian refugees in Lebanon.

The official who refused to be identified said that the targeted Arab embassies are for countries which are taking part in the international alliance against terrorism.

He said that all Jordanian embassies abroad besides the embassies of the targeted Arab states had tightened their security measures as these attempts were discovered.
