Malaysia appreciates Egypt's Middle East policy

Egypt's ambassador to Malaysia Osama Al-Esheiri Monday said the Malaysian government highly appreciates efforts by President Hosni Mubarak in the Middle East and supports Egypt's stance regarding the events of September 11 in the United State.

Esheiri said the Malaysian Premier objects the US -British raids on Afghanistan as they will result in the killing of innocent people, pointing out that the US did not ask Malaysia to use its airspace for territories.

AL Esheri said that the ruler of Malaysia Tuanku Ja' afar extended an invitation to President Mubarak to visit Malaysia.

As for Malaysia's stance vis-a-vis the Palestinian issue, the Egyptian diplomat said Malaysia fully supports the Palestinian people's right to restore their land and rejects Israel's assaults on the Palestinians.

Referring to the close ties between Egypt and Malaysia, Esheiri said Egypt's exports to Malaysia reached dlr. 19 million over the past five years up from only dlr. three million in the former period.

He highlighted the signing of 10 cooperation agreement between Egyptian and Malaysian businessmen, three of which were implemented and the others are facing obstacles.

He underlined for the need to realize more trade exchange between the two countries through exchanging visits by trade delegations.
