Jordan, Morocco examine technicalities to enlarge list of tax exempt goods
Jordan-Morocco, Politics, 10/16/2001

Jordanian and Moroccan experts are to hold a meeting as of next Monday to debate technicalities to enlarge the list of tax exempt goods exchanged between the two Arab states.

The meeting will be held on the sidelines of the Moroccan-Jordanian joint commission, secretary general of the Jordanian ministry of industry and trade, Samer Taouil, told reporters here Monday.

Experts will also discuss revision of the schedule on the progressive lifting of customs barriers on Jordanian exports to Morocco, Taouil said.

Means to enhance exchange of visits between businessmen and to give incentives to joint investment projects are also on the experts' agenda.

The Moroccan-Jordanian joint commission will meet in Amman on October 24 to look into several aspects of bilateral cooperation, mainly in matters of investment opportunities, tourism, youth and culture.

Morocco and Jordan are signatory, along with Egypt and Tunisia, to the Agadir Declaration setting up a free trade zone between Arab-Mediterranean countries.

The free trade area between the four signatory countries will be extended to six other Arab countries, namely Algeria, Libya, Mauritania, Syria, Lebanon and Palestine, awaiting the ultimate goal to establish a Euro-Mediterranean free trade zone of 27 countries by 2010.

Morocco and Jordan have already signed separate association agreements with the EU.
