American raids continued against Afghanistan
Regional-Afghanistan, Politics, 10/13/2001

The American raids continued against Afghanistan for the 6th running days amid evidences on the use of cluster bombs to destroy the positions and aggregations of the military Taliban movement, according to western sources.

Taliban sources, on the other hand, said that hundreds of people were killed or wounded during Friday's raids including children and women and news agencies said that hundreds of citizens evacuated Kabul.

The areas north to the Afghani capital Kabul were exposed to air strikes targeted air defense for the Taliban forces, while eye- witnesses said that four large explosions were heard in the downtown of Kabul while the skies of Qindhar were covered by dust and smoke as a result of the American bombardment. The fighting lines between the Taliban movement and the northern opposition forces witnessed intensive exchange of bombardment which was echoed for a distance of 40 kilometers to the north of Kabul..

Taliban sources whose anti warplanes defenses intercepted the American raids over the capital Kabul stressed that 160 bodies were taken out of the remains of al-Qadam village ( north Afghanistan) which was violently hit. The sources indicated that more than 300 Afghani were so far killed in the raids.

However, with the increased pressures of Washington's allies in the war to draw the plan of the coming phase of the war, the US President George Bush stressed that the campaign against terrorism may last one or two years in which all military, financial and information means will be used. President Bush once again proposed to Taliban to hand over Osama Bin Laden.
