Stressing the importance of European- Syrian relations, Papandreau visits Damascus tomorrow

Greece on Friday officially announced that its foreign minister George Papandreau will visit Syria tomorrow Sunday to discuss regional developments, following the American military attacks at Afghanistan and to stress the interest of the European Union to maintain good relations with Damascus. The spokesman for the Greek government said that Papandreau's visit to Damascus might be followed by a similar visit to Iran.
The spokesman continued that Papandreau will have the possibility of reactivating relations between the two countries through underlining the interest of the European Union and the international community to maintaining an openness to Syria.
