Algeria: 24 persons wounded in demonstrations in al-Qabeyal area

The Algerian dailies issued on Thursday said that 24 persons including 8 policemen, were wounded on Tuesday in clashes that took place in al-Qabayel district.
The dailies added that these incidents took place in al- Soumam plain in the minor ( al-Sughra) al-Qabayel district of Bjayah district, 220 Km to the east of the capital Algiers, in al-Qaser and Amizor and Oqas where young demonstrators attacked by stones and explosives a riot- fighting unit who retaliated by launching tear gases..
The Algerian daily " Liberty" explained that the policemen fired rubber bullets to disperse the demonstrators who included students.
The other Algerian papers also said that the demonstrators installed barriers especially on the two main roads in Wadi al-Soumam.
However, demonstrations re- erupted in al-Qabayel district on October 5th after the banning of a demonstration for delegates for the area who wanted to submit a list on their demands to the presidency in Algiers.
