Call on US to change its position regarding the Arab- Israeli conflict

The London- based al-Sharq al-Awsat said in its Wednesday's commentary by Ahmad al-Ruba'e for seizing " the critical moment" the world is passing to pressure on America in order to change her stances towards the Arab - Israeli conflict.

The paper said that this requires reconsidering a widely spread thought in the Arab public in that the standard of nationalism is the extent of hatred towards the US, noting that this stand might be justified for the common " street man" but not to Arab intellectuals and those who know the international language and the situation inside America where " Zionists are making use of the margin of freedom and media and financial pressure to continue the 'blind' American bias to Israel, while the Arabs limit their role just to damned America."

The paper indicated that Syria's election as a member at the UN Security Council, saying that the American stand to this effect was positive and that American stood beside Syria to send a message to the Arabs on the one hand, and to Israel, on the other, although it has pressure papers inside the UN that makes Syria's position weak. However, it seemed that the US stood neutral in that matter and can be said with Syria to convey this very message.

The paper continued that America's situation is almost identical with that of the Arabs in its being a victim for the Zionist terrorism, as the Zionist pressuring forces were able to have control of the American society and to continue the police of terrorism and occupying of lands.
