Syrian leadership continues to have a remarkable position

The Kuwaiti daily al-Seyasah said in its Wednesday's issue that Syria is very content during this phase with its position and the support given by the Arab states to her, noting that its election as a member at the UN Security Council is considered as an indication to her continued regional role.

The paper added that America's approval of Syria's joining the Security Council gave the impression that Syria will be a strong ally to the US and this is if the American intention is sincere towards the Syrian stand which can be put as follows: not to involve Arab liberation movements into the list of terrorism; canceling Syria's name from this list and last reviving the Middle East peace process and giving a clear role for the Syrian track.

The paper quoted a high ranking Syrian official as saying that Syria is against all forms of terrorism and that it had suffered a lot of it and called for fighting it and stressed not to mix between liberating the usurped rights and resistance and the real terrorism conducted in open in Palestine, the Golan and South Lebanon.
