Mubarak-Blair discuss issues

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak Thursday held a tete-a-tete session of talks with British Prime Minister Tony Blair who arrived earlier on a one-day visit to Egypt.

They discussed the latest developments of a campaign on fighting terrorism and the current situation on the international arena.

Later members of the two sides' delegations joined the talks.

The Egyptian delegation included Prime Minister Atef Ebeid and Presidential Political Advisor Osama al-Baz. Present on the British side were British Ambassador here John Sawers and Foreign Office Political Advisor David Manning.

The Mubarak-Blair talks come within the framework of consultations by President Mubarak with many world leaders on the latest developments on the regional and international arenas in light of the U.S. campaign against Taliban Movement.

Also, the talks come within the framework of efforts seeking a settlement to the Middle East issue mainly the Palestinian cause as the core of the Arab issue.

The visit is the second of its kind by Blair to Egypt since he has assumed power.
