Morocco sends relief assistance to Afghan populations
Morocco-Afghanistan, Local, 10/11/2001

Two Moroccan aircraft loaded with 16 tons of basic foodstuffs and 12 tons of blankets flew Wednesday from Kenitra, 40 km north of Rabat, to Islamabad, to extend the aid to the Afghan displaced populations in Pakistan and other border regions.

The Moroccan delegation which will hand over the relief assistance is to fly this Thursday afternoon to Pakistan aboard another aircraft loaded with a shipment of 10 tons of medicine. The Moroccan delegation comprises officials, representatives of political parties and trade unions and executives from the Mohammed V solidarity foundation and the Moroccan Red Crescent. Social workers are also part of the delegation.

King Mohammed VI decided earlier this week to dispatch a relief assistance to Pakistan and gave instructions so that contacts be immediately made with Pakistani authorities to ensure the distribution of this assistance to Afghan refugees the soonest possible.
