Morocco extends urgent humanitarian assistance to Afghan population
Morocco-Afghanistan, Politics, 10/9/2001
Morocco's King Mohammed VI has issued instructions to dispatch emergency humanitarian assistance to the Afghan populations displaced in Pakistan and border areas, following the recent developments and the launching of US-British actions in Afghanistan.
The Moroccan assistance will consist of food products, medicine and blankets. The package will be dispatched by a special flight and handed by a Moroccan delegation comprising officials, representatives of political parties and trade unions, and executives from the Mohammed VI Foundation and from the Moroccan Red Cross.
The sovereign has also issued instructions to start contacts with Pakistani officials to secure the distribution, the soonest possible, of the aid to Afghan refugees. With this gesture, Morocco means to show its solidarity with the civilian populations and contribute to alleviate their sufferings.
