Al-Assad discusses in Amman with King Abdullah relations, the situation in Afghanistan

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad held a short visit to Amman during which he held two meetings, one is a close door with King Abdullah. Discussions dealt with means of strengthening Syrian- Jordanian relations at all levels.
President Al-Assad and King Abdullah listened to a briefing on the results of the meeting of the Syrian- Jordanian joint higher committee which was concluded on Monday in Amman.
Concerning the situation in the region, the Jordanian King stressed the need of reaching a just and comprehensive peace in the region on the ground of International legitimacy resolutions especially UN resolution 242 and 338 and Israel's withdrawal from all Syrian, Lebanese and Palestinian territories which are still under the Israeli occupation until June 4, 1967 border lines.
Upon reviewing recent developments in Afghanistan, President al-Assad and King Abdullah underlined the importance of political and security treatment for the terrorism phenomenon and avoiding civilians any negative reflections on their life.
They stressed the need of not holding the Arabs and their causes the consequences of the recent terrorist acts.
President Bashar al-Assad and King Abdullah held a close door meeting followed by a plenary session attended on behalf of the Syrian side by the Syrian foreign minister Farouk al-Shara and the Syrian ambassador in Amman Abdul Fattah Ammoura.
On the Jordanian side the meeting was attended by the prime minister Ali Abu al-Ragheb, the chairman of the royal court Fayez al- Trawenah and the foreign minister Abdul Illah al-Khatib.
King Abdullah II held a luncheon banquet in honor of President al-Assad, attended by members of the two delegations.
President al-Assad and members of the accompanying delegation returned back to Damascus following a work visit to Jordan.
