King Mohammed VI Receives Message from Senegalese President
Morocco-Senegal, Politics, 10/8/2001
Morocco's King Mohammed VI received on Saturday in the Royal palace in Marrakesh Senegalese foreign minister, Sheikh Tidjane Gadio, special envoy of the Senegalese president.
The Senegalese official handed the sovereign a message from Senegalese president, Abdoulaye Wade, related to the Senegalese initiative to develop an African anti-terrorism pact.
The sovereign welcomed the initiative which will offer the African continent the possibility of examining the issue with the United Nations Organization and other sides worldwide.
King Mohammed VI, in his capacity as chairman of Al-Quds Committee, insisted on the need to endeavor to find a fair, lasting and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue, with the support of all member states of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC).
The Senegalese president's envoy also expounded before the sovereign ongoing preparations for the Conference on the African development Initiative that his country will host next January. The African Development Initiative is a result of a merger between Wade's Omega plan and south African president's MAP plan.
The sovereign assured Senegal of Morocco's effective participation both in the conference preparations and in the conference itself.
On Sunday, Senegal voiced appreciation for the Moroccan king's support to the Senegalese president's anti-terrorism African pact and for the sovereign's proposals to enrich the pact.
In the wake of the attacks against the USA, the Senegalese president said African countries should rally the international coalition against terrorism with concrete actions and stressed the need for Africa to be associated in all international endeavors for freedom and against terrorism.
