Morocco's FM in Saudi Arabia and Qatar
Regional-Morocco, Politics, 10/8/2001
Moroccan foreign affairs and cooperation minister, Mohamed Benaissa, arrived on Sunday in Saudi Arabia for a two-day visit.
This Monday, Benaissa is to hand messages from King Mohammed VI to King Fahd Ibn Abdelaziz and to heir apparent Prince Abdallah Ibn Abdelaziz.
He is also scheduled to meet his Saudi peer, Prince Saud Al Faysal.
Last Thursday, King Mohammed VI had received in Marrakesh Prince Abderrahmane Ibn Abdelaziz, Saudi vice-minister of defense, and insisted on the solid ties binding Morocco and Saudi Arabia and on the need to carry on consultation between Rabat and Riyadh. The sovereign had also announced that he will dispatch Benaissa as his personal envoy to the Saudi monarch and to the heir apparent.
After Jeddah, Benaissa will leave for Doha where he will participate in a meeting of Arab foreign ministers on Tuesday and will attend on Wednesday the extraordinary meeting of the foreign ministers of the member countries of the Conference of Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC).
