Peres: the state of Palestine will be established
Palestine-Israel, Politics, 10/8/2001

The Israeli foreign minister Shimon Peres has expressed his conviction that a Palestinian state will be established and that Israel has to reach what he described as a historical settlement with the Palestinians.

News reports said that Peres said in an interview with the German daily " Beld Um Sontag " on Sunday that "we should reach a historical settlement with the Palestinians," stressing that the state of Palestine will be established.

Peres explained that Israel handed the chairman of the Palestinian Authority Yasser Arafat a list in the names of 108 Palestinians, wanted by the Israeli authorities.

He added that Israeli asked Arafat to oppress the Intifada and to put an end to its activities, but the Palestinian authority did not response to this request.
