New party's constitutive assembly slated for November
Morocco, Politics, 10/5/2001

Abderrahmane Lahjouji, former chairman of the Moroccan employers' association (CGEM), said a constitutive assembly will be held next November 10 to announce the creation of his new party "Citizen forces."

He said at a lecture here Wednesday the new party's objective is to "politicize competencies" as Morocco boasts rich and varied human resources who are not interested in politics. He also underscored the need to moralize the political life and promote a new culture of constructive politics based on partnership.

The first national congress of the party, which opposes unrestrained liberalism and preaches a liberalism of solidarity respecting the country's sacred values and Moroccan identity, will be likely held in March.

Lahjouji also stressed Morocco has to integrate regional groupings and restore faith in the Maghreban project. He added the party will be fighting laxity, opacity, lies and cowardice and will not hesitate to take some decisions which could be unpopular but serving the country's interest.
