Jordanian- Austrian cooperation in the field of fighting terrorism, organized crime

Jordan and Austria on Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding stressing their commitment to fighting terrorism and to cooperate in fighting organized crimes. This was expressed during the visit of the Austrian minister of the Interior Earnest Schtraser to Amman.

The Jordanian official news agency "Petra" said that the memorandum was signed in conclusion of the talks held between the Austrian minister and his Jordanian counterpart Awad Khleifat.

In the said memorandum the two sides stressed their commitment to " fighting terrorism and extremism." They also stressed on " strengthening prospects of bilateral cooperation in the area of fighting organized crime and illicit drug trafficking."

The two ministers also discussed means of fighting " smuggling and dealing with illegal migration, economic crimes and money laundering."

The Austrian minister of the interior arrived in Amman on Wednesday in an official visit to Jordan that lasts for three days.
