Egypt leads drive to protect human heritage

Egypt's delegate to the United Nations Ahmed Abul-Gheit suggested to the Secretary-General Kofi Annan to enlist a new item on the current agenda of the General Assembly concerning declaring 2003 as a year for protecting the human heritage.
The Suggestion calls on UNESCO to draw up a plan in cooperation with the Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) for finding out financial resources needed to finance the world's cultural heritage.
