Ahmad Saadat, secretary general of the people's front for the liberation of Palestine

The executive committee of the People's Front for the Liberation of Palestine on Wednesday elected Ahmad Saadat as a new secretary general in succession to the former secretary general Abu Ali Mustafa who was assassinated by Israel on August 27.

The voting process, held in Ramullah, was attended by tens of members of the committee and Ahmad Saadat ( 48 year old) got two thirds of the votes of 165 members in competition with his rival Abdul Rahim Mallouh ( 50 year old). Ahmad Saadat., born in Ramullah. He is married with four children and he is a former teacher for mathematics in Ramullah.

Al-Sadaat was detained seven times by Israel under charges of being involved in anti- Israeli activities and he is now wanted by Israel.
