Three Israeli settlers killed, 5 wounded

Three Israeli settlers were killed and other five wounded in a Palestinian attack inside " Aley Sinai" settlement to the north of Gaza.

The second channel of the Israeli TV said that fire was exchanged between the Palestinian attackers and the Israelis inside the settlements, and that Israelis were held as hostages in one of the houses.

The Israeli TV added the Israeli army sent military supplies and helicopters to the side of the incident.

Meantime, the Israeli forces opened fire at a demonstration held by students of Beir Zeit university held in protest of the military barriers that cut the road between Ramullah and Beir Zeit and prevents students from arriving at their university.

The Israeli attacks resulted in wounding ten Palestinians and other two had breathing problems because of the Israeli poisonous gas and all were admitted to hospital for medical treatment.

News reports said that while the Palestinian students were chanting national slogans demanding lifting the barriers the Israeli forces opened fire on them. The reports added that among the Palestinian students were several foreign students who raised banners in English saying " let us learn peacefully and lift your hand up from Beir Zeit university." Many Palestinians also demonstrated near Beit al-Sharq (Orient House) in Jerusalem protesting its closure since August. No details were given about this demonstration because of the tightened Israeli military siege of the city.

Meanwhile, the Israeli occupation forces randomly opened fire at Palestinian farmers in the surrounding of Ghadid settlement in Gaza and the Palestinian teenagers retaliated by firing shells at the Israeli camp which was the source of the shelling.

In Rafah, the Israeli forces opened fire at several Palestinian houses and this resulted in wounding seven Palestinian citizens and the Palestinians retaliated by shelling the Israeli positions and patrols by explosives in the areas surrounding Rafah.

The Israeli authorities admitted the wounding of 16 Israeli soldiers during the clashes took place on Monday in Um al-Fahm town of the territories of 1948 which started demonstrations supporting the Intifada.

On the other hand, the Palestinian official responsible for the media and culture in the Palestinian Authority Yasser Abd Rabbu said that the Israeli forces intensified their attacks against the Palestinians in the occupied territories, especially after the recent meeting held between the Israeli foreign minister Shimon Peres and the chairman of the Palestinian authority Yasser Arafat.

Abd Rabbo added that the Israeli army and the settlers killed 21 Palestinians since the Arafat- Peres meeting and demolished more than 50 houses and displaced their owners.
