On Hizbullah's exchange of prisoners with the Israelis
Lebanon-Israel, Politics, 10/3/2001

The Hizbullah has stressed that negotiations concerning the exchange of Israeli prisoners with detainees in the Israeli jails achieved great strides and are waiting for the " last quarter of an hour."

An official at the Hizbullah Party told the Kuwaiti daily al-Seyasah that negotiations have been settled concerning the release of all Lebanese detainees in the Israeli jails, but the " complex part of this issue lies in other Arab and Palestinian prisoners in Israel as Hizbullah is committed to release them, while Israel is negotiating, through the German side, to release part of them it has already defined."

Meantime, an Arab expert living in Beirut told al-Seyasah said that the Hizbullah party is concerned in putting an " honorable end" to the question of the prisoners. And this creates atmospheres of detente in the region and therefore lead to having an Israeli and international recognition in the party.

The official in the Hizbullah said that a series of American statement about the Crusaders war, to the conflict of civilizations and then " the ultimate justice," are all but thermal Balloons thrown in the region to cover the strike at Afghanistan.

The Hizbullah official has not ruled out dramatic developments in the region that will result in relative understanding between Iran and each of Egypt, Syria and Saudi Arabia on establishing an axis which has reservation to the international alliance the US is preparing to lead.
