Sudan denies to have had handed the US Islamists, residents in Sudan
Sudan, Politics, 10/3/2001
The Sudanese minister of the Interior Lt. Gen. Abdul Rahim Hussein has denied that his country had handed over several Islamists and Arabs residents in Sudan to the US in the framework of security cooperation between the two countries following the recent explosions in the US.
In a statement to the Sudanese daily al-Sahafi ( the journalist) issued on Tuesday, the Sudanese minister denied the existence of any detainees the government has been keeping following the incidents of New York and Washington. He added " we did not hand over any persons and no side had asked us to hand persons living among us and it is not our intention to hand over persons in the future." Lt. Gen. Hussein stressed, on the other hand, that Sudan will not permit any foreign forces to be in its territories not to provide any military facilitation to any military force targeting an Arab or Islamic state..
On the other hand, the Sudanese minister of finance Abdul Rahim Hamdi denied news that the US has asked Sudan to reconsider its banking system.
He stressed that what has been rumored on the establishment of the " Bin Laden " bank for the North bank in Sudan at a capital of USD 50 million is a clear mistake.
