Cezer: we are careful to strengthen relations with Syria

The Syrian prime minister Muhammad Mustafa Miro on Monday in Damascus received the foreign trade advisor at the Turkish ministry of commerce Kurshad Touzmen and members of the accompanying businessmen. The meeting was attended by the minister of the economy and foreign trade Muhammad al-Imadi and the Turkish ambassador in Damascus.
Discussions dealt with means of developing and strengthening co-operation relations in the economic, trade and cultural areas and revitalizing the role played by businessmen in holding joint investment projects for bilateral interests.
Meantime, the Turkish President Ahmet Nejdet Cezer announced on Monday that his country seeks to develop its relations with Syria in all fields on the ground of mutual interests.
In a speech he delivered on the occasion of opening the new legislative session of the Turkish Ummah council ( Parliament), the Turkish President said that the steps taken by Syria under the leadership of President Bashar al-Assad will contribute to developing the atmosphere of cooperation and stability in the region.
The Turkish President stressed that developing relations between Syria and Turkey will be for the benefit of the two neighborly and friendly countries, Syria and Turkey.
The Turkish President, on the other hand, called for the resumption of negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian Authority.
