Bush thanks al-Assad over his position towards events in the US

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has received a reply message from the US President George Bush in reply to the message al- Assad had sent.

The message expressed President Bush's thanks and his appreciation for the position taken by President al-Assad concerning the attacks against the US.

The message was delivered to the Syrian foreign minister Farouk al-Shara during his meeting on Monday with the US ambassador in Damascus Theodore Qattouf.

Discussions dealt with current conditions on the regional and international arenas.
