The German foreign ministry on Sunday evening announced that its foreign minister Yushka Fischer will today ( Monday) pay a visit to Damascus. News reports said that Fischer will hold talks on the situation in the Middle East and that after his visit to Damascus Fischer will visit Lebanon. Go

The White house has announced that the US President George Bush will receive next week in the White House the ruler of Qatar to discuss the issue of war against terrorism. Finnish minister of foreign trade, Kimmo Sasi, arrived in Casablanca Sunday on a three day visit to Morocco, at the head of a delegation of industrialists. The Finnish official told reporters the visit is meant to give a new impetus to bilateral relations, that he described as "already very good." Talks, he said, will cover political, economic, educational and research-development fields. Go

A Saudi military source announced that Saudi Arabia will not permit its territories nor military bases to be the starting point for launching attacks against Afghanistan. The Saudi daily Okaz issued on Sunday quoted the source as denying what was stated by certain media establishments that Saudi Arabia will permit American planes to use " prince Sultan " air base in al-Riyadh to launch attacks against Afghanistan, noting that this is " totally untrue and mere media fabrication."
