King Mohammed receives Spanish foreign minister

King Mohammed VI received this Monday at the royal palace of Marrakesh Spanish foreign affairs minister, Josep Pique, who started on Sunday a visit to Morocco.

Pique had said upon arrival Sunday the aim of his visit is to explore means to give a new impetus to bilateral friendship relations and promote cooperation.

He stressed that the issue of fisheries, which poisoned relations between the two Mediterranean countries, belongs to the past. Pique said he is optimistic over the future of relations between the two countries.

Of illegal immigration, the head of Spanish diplomacy stressed that the issue is not only a bilateral one but is an international one, adding that with good will, the problem will be solved, especially that some 250,000 Moroccans are settled in Spain and that the Spanish society is very open onto immigration particularly from Morocco.

Talks will also cover international issues, such as terrorism and organized crime, he went on.
