Belgian Attorney court accuses Sharon of war crimes

The Belgian Attorney court has accused the Israeli prime minister of committing crimes of extermination over his direct responsibility to Sabra and Shatilla massacres in 1982 in Lebanon. This is, however, a new development in the file of the case submitted by members of families of the massacres' victims against Sharon.

The London- based al-Hayat daily said in its Sunday's issue that the Belgian Attorney general submitted a report to this effect to the court of appeal which will consider this case.

The paper quoted the lawyer of those who filed the case Shebli al-Mallat as saying that the importance of the accusation stems from the fact it not only confined to war crimes, rather also the crime of committing crimes of extermination, which means that the Attroney general has officially joined the " families of the victims. This is the first time in which an official accusation is addressed to Sharon in a high ranking western judicial forum.
