Moroccan lawyers stage sit-in for Palestine
Morocco-Palestine, Politics, 9/28/2001
The Moroccan Bar Association has said it will stage a sit-in on Friday inside all Moroccan courts halls to show solidarity with the Palestinian people.
The sit-in is also meant to protest against Israeli practices in the occupied territories, the association said in a release made public at the end of a recent meeting in Casablanca.
The Arab Lawyers Union had proclaimed September 28, 2001 a day of backing to the Palestinian people through staging solidarity sit-ins, the release said.
Relatedly, the Moroccan Press Union (SNPM) and the Press Club will hold a meeting in Rabat on Saturday on the Media and the Palestinian Intifadah (uprising).
The meeting, to be held at the headquarters of the Moroccan news agency (MAP), is held in cooperation with the Moroccan Association of Support to the Palestinian People.
Several Moroccan and Arab personalities and reporters, including Palestinian journalist and militant Bilal Al-Hassan, will attend the meeting.
