Islamic council set up in western Africa

A forum gathering 160 Islamic associations of Western Africa held recently in Accra, Ghana, decided to set up an Islamic council at the level of the sub-region.
The announcement was made here Thursday by chairman of the Senegalese Islamic Youth, Ahmed Saloum Dieng.
Participants from 16 countries of the sub-region who participated in the Accra forum decided to hold the same forum in the other regions of the continent, the ultimate aim being to set up a supreme Islamic council for the whole Africa, Dieng was quoted by the International Islamic News Agency IINA as saying.
