Al-Assad discusses with Troika delegation regional and international developments

President Bashar al-Assad on Thursday evening received the European Union Troika delegation which is composed of the Belgian foreign minister Lious Michael, the Spanish minister of state for foreign affairs Michael Nadal and the higher representative of the European Union for foreign and security affairs Javier Solana and the EU commissioner for foreign relations Kris Patten. Present at the meeting were the Syrian foreign minister farouk al-Shara and the ambassadors of Belgium, Spain and the EU in Damascus.
Discussions dealt with latest developments on the regional and international arenas following the attacks on the US and its reflections into the world.
Stress was laid on the fact that the European Union plays an important role in maintaining co-operation with the Arab and Islamic worlds in the framework of the international legitimacy in dealing with the results of what had happened.
View points were identical on several important points which help to dealing with reasons and roots of terrorism and finding out solutions to conflicts the world is facing, foremost being finding out a just solution to the Middle East question.
