Sudanese customs men killed in clashes with smugglers
Sudan, Local, 9/28/2001

Four Sudanese customs men were killed and other three were wounded in clashes with smugglers at the Sudanese, Libyan and Chad borders on Monday.

A group of 25 smugglers had implanted an ambush for the customs men just 500 Km from Danqala city after they had left a big car in the desert and when the smuggling fighting force arrived in the site the smugglers opened fire on them and as a result four were killed and three were wounded. Then, the smugglers fled to the neighboring states using Land-cruise cars, and they were chased by the smuggling fighting forces. Mopping up operations still continue in the region in search of them.
