Troika delegation in Riyadh after Tehran
Saudi Arabia-European Union, Politics, 9/27/2001

The Saudi crown prince Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz on Wednesday in Riyadh met with the delegation of the European Union led by the Belgian foreign minister, whose country is presiding over the current presidency of the European Union Louis Michael.

The Saudi news agency said the two sides discussed international developments as well as conditions in the Middle East, foremost being the Palestinian issue and conditions in the occupied Arab territories.

Present at the meeting were members of the European commission including the Spanish foreign minister, the higher representative for the higher foreign policy and security of the EU Javier Solana, the deputy chief of the European Commission Kris Patten. The meeting was also attended by the Saudi foreign minister Saud al-Faisal and the ambassadors of Belgium and Spain in al-Riyadh.

Earlier in the day, and during his meeting with the European Troika delegation, President Khatami called for the need of fighting terrorism fundamentally at the international level in a process that all countries and peoples of the world can take part.
