Dialogue between Sudan, the European Union

The Sudanese foreign ministry has announced that Khartoum and the European Union have concluded the dialogue already started two years ago with the aim to improve their relations.

In conclusion of their meeting, the two sides condemned the " terrorist criminal" attacks " in New York and Washington and called for international cooperation to fight and extract terrorism.

In a statement the two sides called for not inflicting damages on civilians during the campaign against terrorism and called for work to maintain a clear and definite recognition of terrorism.

The statement indicated that the chairman of the Sudanese delegation included Mutaraf Saddiq, the deputy foreign minister, who briefed the European delegation which included the ambassadors of the European Union member states in Khartoum with the " positive " developments in Sudan's relations with the neighboring states, especially with Uganda, Eritrea and Ethiopia.

The session held between the two sides in Khartoum was dedicated to discuss the peace process in Sudan where a civil war has been taking place since 18 years.

The Sudanese side stressed the need to reach a cease-fire, and called on the European Union to support the march of peace and terminating the destructive war.
