Walker commends Syria and its president

Former US under secretary of state Edward Walker, who is also the chairman of the Middle East ( al-Sharq al-Awsat) center in the US has expressed his appreciation for Syria and its leader President Bashar al-Assad, noting that there are new opportunities for maintaining cooperation between the US and Syria.
In a statement to the " Voice of America" ( Sawt America) radio on Wednesday, Walker praised the recent message President al-Assad sent to President Bush ( condolences on the victims of the terrorist attacks) and described it as embodying warmth and openness.
