Morocco-Libya, Politics, 9/26/2001
Morocco's King Mohammed VI, accompanied by Prince Moulay Rachid, received Wednesday at the Royal Palace in Rabat Dr. Abdessalam Triki, secretary of the General Popular Committee for African Unity and envoy of the Libyan leader Col. Moammar Kaddafi to the sovereign.
The envoy was accompanied by the charg? d'affaires of the Libyan embassy in Morocco.
Foreign affairs and cooperation minister, Mohamed Benaissa, and secretary of state for foreign affairs and cooperation, Taib Fassi Fihri, attended the meeting.
The Libyan envoy had told MAP upon arrival in Rabat earlier Wednesday that he would convey to King Mohammed VI a message from Col. Kaddafi.
The message is part of consultation between King Mohammed VI and Kaddafi on issues pertaining to the Maghreb, the Arab World, Africa and the world at large, he said.
He added that his visit is also part of dialogue between the two brotherly countries, he said, adding that the situation currently prevailing over the world requires this kind of consultation between Morocco and Libya.
Triki had already visited Tunisia and Algeria, where he handed messages to Presidents Zine Al Abidine Ben Ali and Abdelaziz Bouteflika.
