Sharon cancels meeting with Straw over terrorism comments
Israel-UK, Politics, 9/26/2001

The Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon has canceled a meeting which was due on Tuesday with the British foreign minister Jacques Straw under the pretext of statement the latter has made concerning the Palestinian question, show feuds to Israel.

The Israeli foreign ministry said that Straw's statements in which he expressed his conviction that one of the elements that help feeding terrorism is anger which is felt by many of the people of the Middle East regarding the events taking place in Palestine for many years, can be explained that they are accusations to Israel and an understanding to what it called " terrorism against it."

Meantime, the Israeli President Moshe Kassav decided, for his part to cancel the meeting which he was due to hold with Straw who would have arrived in Tel Aviv later in the day ( Tuesday).

On the other hand, the Israeli foreign minister Shimon Peres said he intends to meet with the British foreign minister to explain to him how mistaken he is.
