Israel only beneficiary from terrorist incidents in US

Ambassador Mohamed Bassiouni, the former Assistant Foreign Minister and Egypt's Ambassador to Israel said, "Israel is the only beneficiary of terrorist incidents in the United States."

He said that Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon sought, since those incidents, to promote claims that Palestinians were no more than terrorists and that Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat was no more than a leader of a terrorist organization.

Bassiouni said that Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon took advantage of those incidents to penetrate into Palestinian territories in zone A, which is subjected to a Palestinian security and civilian administration.

He said that Sharon believed that he could take advantage of those events to bury the Palestinian cause under the ruins of the World Trade Center.

He said that President Mubarak's call for convening an international conference for reaching a world treaty under the UN umbrella focuses on the introduction of a world and legitimate mechanism for combating terrorist operations.

He said the Israeli Prime Minister believes that he could solve his political problems through military solutions. Bassiouni said military might offers no solutions.
