Al-Assad gets messages from Jordanian king, Saudi crown prince, confers with several officials

Damascus on Monday witnessed an intensive political activity made in the confines of the Syrian efforts to strengthen common Arab work and implementation of international legitimacy resolutions.

For this aim, President Bashar al-Assad received the Saudi foreign minister prince Saud al-Faisal, the Jordanian Foreign minister Abdul Illah al-Khatib and the Austrian foreign minister.

President al-Assad also met with the French minister of transport and housing.

On Monday evening President al-Assad received at the Damascus al-Rawda palace the Saudi foreign minister prince Saud al-Faisal and the chairman of the Arab department at the Saudi foreign ministry Khaled al-Jandan.

Present at the meeting were the foreign minister Farouk al-Shara and the Saudi ambassador in Damascus baker Bin Abdullah Bin Baker.

The President got a message from the Saudi foreign minister sent by the Saudi crown prince Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz.

During the meeting the two sides reviewed current contacts on latest developments on the regional and international arenas and the efforts made to revitalize inter- Arab solidarity to withstand future challenges.

On Monday afternoon, the President received at the Damascus al-Shaab presidential palace the Jordanian foreign minister Abdul Illah al-Khatib. The meeting was attended by the foreign minister al-Shara. Al-Khatib handed al-Assad a message from the Jordanian King Abdullah II.

Discussions dealt with current developments at the regional and international levels and its reflections on the Arab arena and the need of maintaining consultation and coordination among the Arab states amid the current developments.

Also at the Damascus al-Shaab Presidential palace, the President received the Austrian foreign minister and members of the accompanying delegation. Al-Shara and the Austrian ambassador in Damascus attended the meeting.

Discussions dealt with developments that took place at the regional and the international levels following the attacks against the US. The President underlined the importance of the European role in this phase in light of the current international developments.

On Monday afternoon, the President received at the Damascus al-Shaab palace the French minister of transport and housing Claude Ceiso. The meeting was attended by the Syrian transport minister Makram Obeid and the French ambassador in Damascus.

Syrian- French bilateral relations since the President's recent visit to France and means of strengthening them were reviewed.

The two sides reviewed the comprehensive cooperation agreement in all sectors of transport already signed between Syria and France.
