It is time now to reconsider world's pro-Israel policies
Regional-Israel, Politics, 9/24/2001

It is time now to reconsider many international pro-Israeli policies, said Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa on Sunday.

"There is a massive anger in the Middle East against the Israeli aggressions on the Palestinian people," said Moussa.

In statements after meeting with Jordanian Foreign Minister Abdel Ilah El-Khateeb in Amman on Sunday, Moussa said that these biased policies cause a state of international turbulence demonstrated in the Seattle Conference on Globalization and Durban's Anti-Racism Conference and man world forums.

He said that it has been agreed with Jordanian King Abdullah II and Khateeb to activate pan-Arab coordination in these circumstances and keep active the peace of contacts, including a proposal to convene a meeting of the Arab foreign ministers.

He said that Arabs embrace one stance against terrorism and had a pan-Arab agreement on fighting terrorism.

"We are sympathizing with the American people and are demanding address of the roots of the problem," said Moussa, viewing the Israeli attempts to blame the attacks on Arabs and Muslims as tantamount to sabotaging the international antiterrorism rally.

"The Israeli case is a special one being a foreign occupation which necessarily and logically leads to resistance," said Moussa.

"Resistance will carry on and the more Israel holds to its recalcitrance the more Arabs will maintain their resistance," he added.

It is also time for Israel to change its policies against Palestinians, said Moussa, noting that this change is very important to deal with the dangerous situation in the region which is part of the world's precarious situation.

Moussa, who began his visit Sunday, met with King Abdullah of Jordan and discussed with him latest developments at the international level and their impact on Arab countries and the Middle East and repercussions of the situation in general.
