Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak received Thursday an urgent message Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi.
Japanese ambassador in Cairo Takaya Suto, who conveyed the message to Foreign Minister Ahmad Maher, said Koizumi expressed to President Mubarak Japan's wish to cooperate with Egypt in confronting terrorism
Koizumi also stressed in his message that terrorism should not be linked to Islam, a religion of peace that denounces terrorism, said the Japanese ambassador.
The Japanese premier also voiced welcome for condemnation by world leaders of the recent terrorist attacks on the United States, underscoring that the international community has to cooperate in the face of these acts of terror, he said.
Suto noted that he and Maher dealt in their meeting with President Mubarak's call to hold an international anti-terrorism conference as well as the possible repercussions of the recent incidents on the peace process in the Middle East.
The Japanese ambassador further expressed hope that these incidents in the United States would have a positive impact on propelling a solution for the Middle East conflict.
