Tough entry measures to Honk Kong for Middle East states

Officials at the consulates of Middle Eastern states and travel agencies said on Wednesday that the Chinese officials in Honk Kong tightened entry measures to the island for 18 countries from the Middle East following the terrorist attacks at the US last week.

News reports said that travelers from the Middle East were informed to get messages from companies they are intending to visit in China before they can get the entry visa.

The Jordanian general consul Fahd Baghdadi said that two Jordanian businessmen were informed about the new Chinese measures and requests by the Chinese entry visa granting office in Honk Kong, earlier this week when they were trying to get a permission to visit the said Chinese island.

He added he did not get a justification for these new laws imposed by the Chinese authorities.

Moreover, travel agencies have also reported about the new restrictions imposed on travelers who carry passports from Afghanistan, Palestine, Israel, Egypt, Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Yemen, Sudan, Libya and Algeria.

In Beijing, the spokeswoman for the Chinese general security ministry said that she has not heard of any new restrictions imposed on travelers who carry passports from Middle Eastern states.

Worthy mentioning that the migration and travel laws in Honk Kong islands are different from the laws in China. Besides Beijing has not imposed similar restrictions made by Honk Kong.
