Despite declared cease- fire Israeli forces bombards Hebron, breaks into Rafah, three Palestinians wounded
Palestine-Israel, Politics, 9/20/2001

Despite the fact that the Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon announced cease- fire, the Israeli occupation forces bombarded Hebron and incurred into the Palestinian authority territories at Rafah crossing for tens of meters and inspected the area.

News reports said several houses in Abu Suninah quarter were damaged because of the Israeli bombardment and that three Palestinians were wounded, adding that the shelling also targeted the area of Nablus, Balat camp and Ramullah. The Palestinian policeman Malek Abdul Jabbar was killed because of his wounds during the Israeli attack against Qilqilya.

Meantime, the Palestinian chief negotiator Saeb Oreikat has refuted news which said the Israeli army started to withdraw from the territories under the Palestinian authority control. He said " The conditions are the same tough siege and continued occupation." Oreikat called for an international move in order to force " Israel" to implementing the package of the Mitchell committee and to lift the siege imposed on the Palestinian territories as well as ending the aggression against the Palestinian people.

Meantime, the secretary of the Fatah movement in the West Bank Marwan al-Barghouthi has called for continuing the Intifada, stressing that the cease fire decision will not be valid unless the Israeli occupation is terminated. He explained:" We have tested Israel" fully. It never honored an agreement in the past. He indicated that there will be vast preparations to celebrate the first anniversary of the Palestinian Intifada.
