Al-Assad gets a telephone call from Annan on international cooperation to fight terrorism

President Bashar al-Assad on Wednesday evening received a telephone call from the secretary general of the UN Kofi Annan during which the destructive incidents took place in the US were reviewed and the need to cooperate in fighting terrorism. Stressed was laid, during the telephone conversation, on the need to make a distinction between international terrorism and the legitimate struggle of people against a foreign occupation. A right guaranteed by the UN charter.
Talks also dealt with the efforts made by the US to fight terrorism in the context of international legitimacy.
