Mubarak, Abdullah hold talks in Sharm al-Sheikh

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak Tuesday held a tete-a-tete session of talks with King Abdullah II of Jordan who had arrived in Sharm Al-Sheikh early Tuesday.
The two leaders examined the repercussions of the terror strikes on the U.S. last week and conditions in Palestinian territories in light of the incessant Israeli aggression.
They had exchanged views over the telephone Monday on the latest developments.
Greeting King Abdullah upon arrival at Sharm El Sheikh International Airport were President Mubarak, Prime Minister Atef Ebeid, Minister of Defence Field Marshall Hussein Tantawi, the Minister of Information Safwat El Sherif, Foreign Minister Ahmed, Maher, Presidential Cabinet Chief Zakareya Azmi and South Sinai Governor Mostafa Afifi.
Later on, the two leaders held a plenary session that was attended on the Egyptian side by Prime Minister Dr. Atef Ebeid, Defence Minister Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi, Information Minister Safwat E1 Sherif, Foreign Minister Ahmed Maher and Chief of the Presidential Cabinet Dr. Zakaria Azmi.
Present on the Jordanian side were Prime Minister Ali Abul Ragheb, Chief of the Royal Court Dr. Fayez Tarawnah and Foreign Minister Abdel Ilah Khatib.
Meanwhile, Minister of Information Safwat A1 Sherif said that President Mubarak and King Abdullah II of Jordan discussed the terrorist events that rocked the U.S. last week during the talks they held Tuesday in Sharm E1 Sheikh.
Mubarak and Abdullah reviewed the contacts made over the last days with U.S. President George Bush, British Premier Tony Blair, French President Jacques Chirac, German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder. and Austrian Chancellor Wolfgang Schuessel, The two leaders discussed the repercussions of the US terror attacks on the world in general and the Middle East in particular, underlining the necessity of fighting terrorism and pursuing terrorist elements, Sherif noted.
Mubarak and Abdullah also exchanged views on the situation in the occupied territories, and the importance of an international attitude and initiative from both sides of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict to stop the current serious deterioration, Sherif noted.
Meanwhile, the Jordanian media highlighted statements by President Mubarak and King Abdullah, which condemned the terrorist attacks in the United States and stressed the importance of cooperation among all countries to stamp out terrorism.
The Jordanian media shed light on the two leaders' statements on the importance of differentiating between terrorist organizations and states and also between terrorism and Islam, as a faith calling for peace and tolerance.
