Syrian- Yemeni joint statement condemns Israeli terrorism, stresses revitalization of common Arab defense

A joint statement was issued by the summit meeting held between President Bashar al-Assad and President Ali Abdullah Saleh of Yemen.
The statements said that at the invitation of the Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh, President Bashar al-Assad paid a visit to Yemen lasted for two days on September 17 and 18 during which they discussed fraternal relations and exchanged view points regarding Arab, regional and international developments. The two sides commended the accelerated growth in the relations between the two sisterly countries in all fields and expressed satisfaction over the good results concluded by the meetings of the 4th session of the joint Higher committee between the two countries held in Sanaa on July 12 through 23 and stressed the importance of revitalizing co-operation among various establishments in the two countries in the service of common interests.
The two sides also reviewed conditions on the Arab, regional and international arenas, foremost being the current developments in the occupied Palestinian territories and the continued acts of terrorism conducted against the Palestinians by the Israeli forces.
The two sides strongly condemned the Israeli terrorist acts against the unarmed Palestinians and renewed their call on the international community to halt the Israeli aggression and to send UN forces to ensure protection for the Palestinian people. They commended the Palestinian people Intifada as a legitimate struggle to attain freedom and independence.
The two sides also called on all Arab and Muslim countries to support the Palestinian Intifada and back the Palestinians in their just and legitimate struggle against the Israelis so as to restore back their rights and build their own independent state on their own native soil, with Jerusalem as a capital.
The Yemeni President stressed Yemen's stand in supporting the Syrian demand to restoring back the occupied Golan until June 4, 1967 border lines.
The two sides expressed support for Lebanon to liberate parts from south of Lebanon still under the Israeli occupation. They stressed the importance of commitment to following up the implementation of the Arab summits resolutions as a manifestation of Arab solidarity.
They stressed the importance of revitalizing the common Arab defense agreement and firm stand against any violation of the territorial integrity and peace of both Kuwait and Iraq.
The two sides called for a prompt and final solution to the question of the prisoners and missing between the two countries and renewed their call to lift the siege imposed on the Iraqis and ending their sufferings.
In their joint statement, the two countries renewed their condemnation to the terrorist attacks against the US and stressed the need of unifying international efforts in order to fight terrorism by all its means and forms, stressing rejection to link between terrorism and the legitimate struggle of people against the foreign occupation force. A right guaranteed by the UN charter.
The two Presidents also stressed to challenge those who committ terrorist acts, whoever, on the ground that terrorism has become an international phenomenon rejected by divine religions and humanitarian values.
They also stressed the need of finding out a united Arab stand towards terrorism so as to attain international stability and world peace, stressing to make a distinction between terrorism and Islam and the Arabs so as to avoid having a rift between the world and the Arabs and Muslims so as positions not to be just a conflict between religions and civilizations.
