British warplanes strike positions in southern Iraq
Iraq-UK, Politics, 9/19/2001
British warplanes on Tuesday bombarded a position in south Iraq.
American military officials told reporters that British Tornado planes attacked the " no fly zone" in Southern Iraq.
The officials explained that the bombardment carried out by the British planes which returned back safe to their base came as a retaliation to the recent attempts made by Iraq to down the British and American planes.
They stressed that the bombardment has no links to the attacks made against the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon in Washington.
