An emergency meeting for the Gulf foreign ministers
Gulf, Politics, 9/18/2001
A well-informed Arab Gulf source said that contacts are being made among the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states to convene an emergency meeting for the foreign ministers of the GCC six member states in order to discuss current developments following the attacks against the US and how to deal with the consequences of these attacks and its impact on the GCC states.
But the sources, simultaneously, ruled out, strongly that discussions will deal with a military role by the GCC to this effect.
The source explained that the meeting of the GCC foreign ministers has become a must in light of the campaign of media distortion which tries to link between Arabs and Muslims on the one hand and terrorism, on the other, noting that the Western mass media have exaggerated linking the two sides.
Meantime, political sources in Washington said that the Saudi foreign minister prince Saud al-Faisal will visit the US this week to hold talks with the American administration on the consequences of prevailing conditions.
