Mubarak receives phone contact from Blair, Austria's Klestil
Egypt-European Union, Politics, 9/15/2001

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak received late Friday a phone call from British Prime Minister Tony Blair.

The telephone conversation took up the grave impact of the terrorist acts that took place in New York and Washington on Tuesday and their political, economic and security repercussions on the international community.

During the phone contact, Mubarak underlined the necessity of holding an international conference on combatting terrorism under the UN umbrella whose resolutions should be binding to all states.

Mubarak also stressed that terrorism is an organized crime designed to undermine international security and peace and scare innocent people.

Moreover, Hosni Mubarak on Friday received another phone call from Austrian President Thomas Klestil who discussed with him the effects of the recent attacks on the US.

Both leaders underlined the importance of a decisive international stance to fight terrorism.
